THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. The Cookbook winner is Cindy Leonard.

I have another tasty review and giveaway for y'all, and I'm super duper excited about this one. Come Home to Supper over 200 Casseroles, Skillets, and Sides (Dessert Too) To Feed your Family With Love is Christy Jordan's 2nd Cookbook!!!
I'm so glad it's finally here and I'm sure she is too. This cookbook is as wonderful as her first one,Southern Plate Classic Comfort Food That Makes Everyone Feel Like Family. And I'm not just saying that because were friends. This cookbook really is that awesome and I'm so stinkin proud of her!
Christy is such a sweet, sweet friend and one of the first blogging friends I met when I began my own blog journey back in 2008. It was a instant friendship, because we shared the same love of family, traditions and southern cooking. I call her my southern sister, because I really think we were separated at birth.
All her recipes remind me of the food that I grew up eating. I love the cover of her cookbook as is shows her in front of her beloved Pyrex collection. If you know Christy and her blog, Southern Plate then you know she's a big Pyrex hoarder and I am so jealous of her huge collection.
Come Home to Supper has 10 chapters and is packed with 200 easy-to-prepare recipes that will comfort your soul. All of her recipes are simple, delicious, kid friendly and easy on your budget. That's definitely my kind of cookbook. I shy away from fancy schmancy cookbooks that have a huge list of ingredients, because they can be so intimidating. In my opinion simple is always best.
I was raised on home cooked meals and eating together as a family. I think families today are leading such busy lives that they just don't have time to eat dinner at home anymore. Due to the lack of time, home cooked meals and family dinners get pushed to the back burner.
"Come Home to Supper" will get your family back on track and eating together as a family again. Christy even gives you the recipes, tools, conversation starters and inspiration to get your family back to the dinner table. I received this cookbook last week, so I've had plenty of time to go through it.
I love a good old fashioned pie, so when I was thumbing through the dessert section this Peanut Butter Pie immediately caught my eye. The photo in the cookbook was simply beautiful. It was one of the recipes that as soon as you saw the photo you said..... I have to make this! Christy's pie reminded me of a Amish Peanut Butter Pie I had a long time ago, but was unable to find the recipe.
This decadent peanut butter pie has four delicious layers, a crumbly peanut layer in the bottom of the pie crust, then a homemade vanilla custard is added. The pie is finished off with a fluffy meringue and additional peanut butter topping. This was the best peanut butter pie I have ever eaten (no lie). I thought the peanut butter pie recipe I had was good, but this recipe blows it away. I'm definitely making this pie for our big family Christmas.

Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Pie
This decadent peanut butter pie has 4 delicious layers, a crumbly peanut layer in the bottom of the pie crust, a homemade vanilla custard filling and finished off with a fluffy meringue and additional peanut butter topping.
Prep time: 30 MinCook time: 35 MinTotal time: 45 M & 105 M
Ingredients
- 1 store bought 9 inch deep dish pie crust
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
- 3 large egg yolks (reserve whites for meringue)
- 2 cups milk
- 2/3 cups sugar + 1/4 cup, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- dash of salt
- 4 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake the pie crust according to package directions and let cool.
- Place the confectioners sugar and peanut butter in a small bowl and cut together with a dinner fork until mixture is crumbly.
- Place half of the peanut butter mixture in the baked pie crust (reserving the remainder). In a large saucepan, stir together the egg yolks, milk, 2/3 cup sugar, vanilla, salt and cornstarch.
- Cook over med-low heat, stirring constantly until thick, 4 - 5 minutes. Pour the cooked custard into the pie shell.
- Make the meringue, in a large clean bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on high speed until foamy.
- Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
- Spread the meringue on top of the custard making sure to seal the edges all the way around.
- Sprinkle the remaining peanut butter crumbles on top of the meringue. Bake until lightly browned 30 minutes.
- Refrigerate several hours uncovered to let the pie set up.
- Pie will keep 3 days stored covered in the refrigerator.
Next on the list were these Old Fashioned Sticky Chicken Legs. This recipe only has 6 ingredients and that's it. All of the ingredients are ones you probably already have in your pantry. The sauce is a sweet and tangy sauce that glazes the chicken. These were a huge hit in my house and the meat just fell of the bones. This recipe will be going on my regular dinner rotation.
Here are a few step by step photos. It's a real easy and straight forward recipe, so I don't think you can mess this one up.
Yield: 6
