Easy Mothers Day Breakfast Ideas {Fruit & Granola Yogurt Parfaits}

Mothers day is only 4 days away. Have you started planning what you will be making? In our house we usually plan a nice Mothers Day Dinner. Something easy most times just grilling out and enjoying the day. I think the best thing you can give mom is a day off from cooking.

I know I sure would love that. Taking the day off from cooking around here can be a bit dangerous. I have to admit that I do help out with my own Mothers Day Dinner. I know I shouldn't, but if I want it to be edible then I need to help.

Breakfast on the other hand is the time I usually try and leave everything up to dad and the kids. That can be a bit scary but no worries with a few simple easy breakfast ideas you don't have to worry about the house going up in smoke.

My kid love making breakfast for me. Most times it is just a simple thing like toast and cereal, bagels with cream cheese or yogurt. Nothing fancy schmancy. All that really matters is that they made it themselves. Since Mothers Day is all about Mom. Why not serve her breakfast in bed. Remember keep it simple since dad and the kids will be preparing breakfast.

If I know one thing about my husband anything that involves too much work in the kitchen is not for him. More than likely he will let the kids do all of the work, so keep it simple. An easy recipe to try is this yummy Fruit & Granola Yogurt Parfait. Yogurt, fruit and granola are layered together in a pretty glass. Mom is sure to love these.

My daughter Mackenzie has a love for cooking just like her mama. She is actually quite the pro if you ask me. Since she is good at chopping she got to slice the strawberries all by herself. So no work on dads part what so ever.

Layer the granola, yogurt, honey or syrup and strawberries. You can also use blueberries or raspberries or even bananas if mom doesn't like strawberries.

Pretty! I think she did a fantastic job.

Yogurt and Granola Parfait
s

1/4 - cup granola
1/2 - cup plain or flavored yogurt
1 - tablespoon maple syrup or honey
1/2 - cup fresh strawberries, sliced

Layer each ingredient in a clear glass.

*Note: I wanted to let you know that Walmart currently has their strawberries on sale. 1 lb packages are .75 and 2 lb packages are just $1.50!!! I had to do a double take and make sure I as reading the price correctly. If you don't pick up any for this recipe, then just get some to nibble on because that is an awesome deal.

I also wanted to include a few other breakfast ideas that I think will be perfect for mom. Bacon & Cheese Muffins are easy to prepare. Now they will require dads help just a bit to cook the bacon. After that dad is home free. The kids can mix and add all the ingredients and pour the batter into the muffin cups. (using a measuring cup will make this really easy for kids). Let dad do the baking.

Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents are defiantly a favorite in our house. Again dad will need to help cook the sausage, but the kids can assemble and roll up the crescents themselves. Again dad will need to man the oven.

Easy Monkey Bread this recipe uses canned biscuits so this Monkey bread is a snap to toss together. The kids can open up the biscuits and cut into pieces with scissors. They can also mix and toss the biscuits in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. ( a large zip lock bag works great for this.) All of this can be done while dad prepares the brown sugar and butter topping. The kids can assemble the biscuit pieces into the pan and then let dad put it all in the oven to bake.

I also wanted to include a wonderful and yummy breakfast dish, Overnight French Toast Casserole. This is perfect because it will feed everyone not just mom. The kids and I made this last year for a Valentines Day Breakfast and it was big hit. Let the kids do all the work of measuring the ingredients and assembling the french toast casserole the night before. Mom will be so surprised. Dad will have to help with the baking.

Easy Fruit Salad pairs beautifully with just about any breakfast dish. What I love about this recipe is that the kids can prepare it all by themselves. Dad will need to help with the can opener but that's it. I think this would go beautifully with the sausage cream cheese crescents or the french toast casserole.

If you want a super easy breakfast idea then choose a yummy smoothie. A favorite in our house is the Strawberry Banana Smoothie. My kids love running the blender so this is always a fun thing for them to make.

If strawberries are not for you then go with Blueberries and make a Blueberry Banana Smoothie.

Whatever breakfast plans you decide on for mom I know she will love it. I know this because anything that comes from the heart is all that really matters.

Happy Mothers Day to everyone and I hope you enjoy your day.
