My bother and I would grab our sleds and all the neighborhood kids would meet on the back hill. We had so much fun having snow ball fights and racing down that snowy hill. After all the fun we would meet up at one of our friends house so all of use could dry out our snow boots and warm up with some hot chocolate.
It was such an exciting time because it was then that my children got their first taste of this yummy treat. Now today's snow fall doesn't even come close to last years record of 13 inches in one day, but you see here in Texas it does not snow that often so we always take what we can get.
I took the photo above this morning as soon as we awoke. I love fresh untouched snow because it looks so peaceful. We only got about 3 inches, but all that matters is that we got a little of the white stuff.
In fact it was just enough snow so we could make our favorite treat of snow ice cream. So today I am posting the recipe again for Snow Ice Cream because it is only fitting for today's weather.

Snow Ice Cream
Ingredients:
8 - 9 cups freshly fallen snow (we place bowls out to catch the fresh snow)
1 - (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 - teaspoon vanilla extract
sprinkles, optional
sprinkles, optional
Directions:
Place snow into a large bowl. Pour condensed milk over and add vanilla. Slowly Mix to combine. Serve immediately in bowls with or without sprinkles.
Cook's Note: Make sure to use fresh fallen snow when making snow ice cream. We placed some bowls out to catch all of our snow). Also if you're going to comment and say how I am feeding my children chemicals please don't bother to comment at all. There are more chemicals in today's foods than fresh fallen snow.

Growing up in Tennessee, it was a rare treat for snow cream! We loved it! I haven't had it in years. Thanks for bringing back the memory!

I didn't know you were from Nebraska! We're huge cornhusker fans! Go Big Red! We've enjoyed our Oklahoma snow too! I'll have to keep this snow ice cream idea for next time!
My dad is retired Air Force so I was a Air Force Brat. Born in France then California, Hawaii and then Nebraska. I moved to Texas about 22 years ago from Washington State.

Wow, you've really been around then. But you settled in a great place!
I always wondered if this was good and you make it look amazing! Here in PA, we have plenty of fresh snow. I can't wait to try this :)
I always thought snow ice cream was something my parents made up. I can't believe other people love it, too! It's been years since I've had it (I live in the Phoenix area now) - thanks for reminding me of a fun childhood tradition!

I just bought sweetened condensed milk yesterday so I can make this the next time it snows here in Boston. We've had over 70 inches this year so far so I'm sure it won't be long before I'll be trying this snow ice cream recipe. Now I can look forward to our next blizzard!
OOOh this brought back some MEMORIES!!! Of my grandmother... how wonderful. Thank you for that trip.
Thank you so very much for a "Great" childhood memory.
This is definitely a recipe I will share with my grandchildren. If we have sufficient snow yet this season, I may even make some and take it to my (Senior) parents who are still living and near by.
I have never used the condensed milk for snow ice cream..will have to try this one..we always used can or regular milk, sugar and flavoring..we did make some with the little bit of snow we got here in sc.love some snow ice cream..nothing like it..now i have a new version to try..
This was my all time favorite thing about snow days. Both my parents families and my Hubby's family does this. And as for the "na" sayers...good, thats just more snow-cream for me and you.
