My Surprise, I Was On WFAA Channel 8 Favorite Foods Segment.

Two weeks ago WFAA Channel 8 our Local News Channel invited everyone to log on to wfaa.com and vote for what we thought were the Daybreak Anchors Favorite Foods. Then on the following Monday and each day throughout that week Daybreak will reveal their favorites AND show everyone how to make them. At the end of the week, Friday they will reveal the winner of the contest and let them come on the show and cook one of their favorite foods for them. Well I entered the contest and won, I couldn't believe it when they called and left the message. I was so nervous to go on the show and cook one of my favorite foods and tape it for the show. Talk about being out of my comfort zone and scared to death all at the same time.
Here is the link to Day Breaks Favorite Foods and their recipes. I have included the video below, from my appearance on the show and the anchors helping me prepare the pie. There was definitely to many cooks in the kitchen, but really fun. We were joking around with Greg Fields the whole time since he dropped his dish when he was making his favorite food. All the Anchors were as nice in person as they are on TV. I was so surprised when they gave Mommy's Kitchen an awesome shout out at the end. It was so unexpected and exciting all at the same time, Thank you WFAA. I will be making each of the anchors favorite foods and then I will feature them on Mommy's Kitchen, so stayed tuned.

I made one of my favorites, a Dessert of course!!
"Chocolate Chip Pie".

Click here to get the recipe, it is so yummy and so easy to make. If you love chocolate chip cookies then your gonna love this pie.

Congratulations Tina! That's so exciting.

I found your blog months ago when I was searching for a hot water cornbread recipe. My great aunt made the best hot water bread, and I miss that time in my life and you helped me recreate it. Since that time, I've been back often to your blog as it is so comforting.

I live in NYC now, but grew up in TX and I managed to get rid of my accent seven or eight years ago when I went to college. So when I heard you speak on the clip you provided, I knew you had to be from Texas. And many of your dishes are very similar to the ones I grew up with, but I never get to eat anymore. It's nice to know the traditions keep living.

Keep up the good work.

Heidi, I was nervous and scared to death all at the same time. It went by so fast like 3 minutes I dont know how they do this stuff. I felt so out of of place, but it was fun.

T. That is so funny when I watched the tape, I said do I sound like that? LOL I guess I do. I do hope you keep coming back to MK and find lots of great dishes to make. There is just something about southern food.
WOW! How exciting. I am so happy for you. You did a great job!

Tina, HOW EXCITING!!! I'm so happy for you!!! It was neat to hear your voice! I'm sure it was a day you'll never forget! A BIG congrats from Tomball!!!
Tina how exciting for you! Congratulations - why, you are a celebrity in your own right now!! And you know, you looked totally natural at it. If you were at all nervous it sure didn't show. Funny how everything is so rushed on tv - suddenly it's like 'okay we have 30 seconds left.' You're right - it went by fast.

Congrats!

Whoot-Whoot! How exciting for you. I'm sure non-Texans are probably surprised at your accent, but you sound perfectly normal to me!

Congrats! You did a wonderful job, you didn't come across nervous at all!

Congratulations! Thanks for posting a link. You did great! I miss watching WFAA. They were my favorite news channel before the Feds decided I couldn't have the DFW stations over satellite.

That pie looks marvelous, too. I'm definitely going to have to give it a try soon.

Just stumbled upon your blog. Being another "foodie" who loves to eat and cook, I'm always looking for new recipes to try out. I own and operate a bed and breakfast inn and though my guests love my 3-course breakfasts, I crave variety, especially for repeat guests that come back, I like to serve them something different each visit. At any rate, you have a great blog and I look forward to trying some of your dishes. You can visit my website at http://www.rockymountainlodge.com

I have to tell you something really funny.

Well, first of all, I really enjoy your blog and your recipes are great!

For your last post you wrote about your channel 8 news team. I recognized one of your newscasters in the picture. Chris Flanagan used to be on the local news from Des Moines, IA. I don't usually watch the station that he was on, but I did notice there was a new girl and he wasn't on anymore. Well, now I know why. He's on in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Funny stuff! I feel like we really know each other now. ;)
That was so cool! You did an excellent job. I wouldn't have been able to stand that... it'd be like, "GET OUT OF MY WAY, BOZOS!!".
