Pizza Sammies {Kid Sized Mini Pizza's}

Today I am bringing you a kid friendly recipe. My kiddos love what we call Pizza Sammies. I have to admit so does Mommy. One because they are so easy to prepare and two because they are just so darn good. My kid's can be so picky especially Carson, so we have to try and incorporate a few Kid Friendly meals to our Monthly Menu.

If we don't Carson thinks he can survive on junk food and junk food alone.These little pizza's are a great way to get the kids to help you out in the kitchen. I don't know about you but as you can tell about alot of the recipes I post on my blog my kid's are usually helping. They love the kitchen! This is really just so simple of a recipe that the the whole family can get involved.

Each person can make their very own personal pizza just the way they want it. Carson and Mackenzie are big Cheese Meister's so Cheese is all they put on theirs. But for everyone else the sky's the limit. These little guys are the perfect size for small little hand's once they're all finished and done with, well depending on what you put on then.

They are also a pretty healthy snack, and very filling too. I haven't met a grown-up yet who could finish more than 3 at a time :) OK, I think i have gone on enough about all this, so grab your pizza toppings and grab your kid's and lets make some Pizza Sammies!!!

Get a package of the frozen rolls that you thaw out to rise. Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees. Coat the bottom of your cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray (a must here).

lay out as many rolls as you want, leaving at least 3 inches apart.

Once the oven is heated, shut it off and put the cookie sheet inside. Let it sit for 30 minutes exactly.

After your thirty minutes is up, take out the baking sheet and flatten each roll into mini-circles.

Just like this.

Put about a tablespoon or so of pizza sauce on each one.

I like to use the Pizza Sauce in the squeeze bottle. It's so much easier for little kid sized hands. Because believe me everyone is going to want to help. The squeeze bottle is so less messy.

then top it with whatever pizza toppings you want. Let everyone help out and make their own. This particular night we just made cheese pizza's and added some pepperoni on a few of the others. I made one with pepperoni, cheese, onions and green peppers.

Bake them at 350 for about 12-18 minutes, and voila! You have what I call Pizza Sammie.

Pizza Sammies

1 - 12 Count Package Frozen Dinner Rolls, thawed
1 - Jar or Bottle of Pizza Sauce
1 - 8 - 12oz package Mozzarella Cheese
Pizza Toppings of your choice,
(pepperoni, hamburger, sausage
black olives, onions, green peppers or just cheese)

We used to make these all the time as kids. We just used canned biscuits, but it was basically the same thing. Yours are fancier with the dinner rolls though!

Even now, I get excited about making them. Especially if I have some bell peppers and onions - its the only time I can have pizza with anything other than pepperoni!

I need to make these with my kids soon!!! Thank you for posting it!

Oh Christy you crack me up girl. I love the squeeze pizza sauce so less messy. You gotta do the roll dough I am telling you it doesnt compare to the biscuits. I get a whole bag of a dozen frozen rolls for $1.89 so no high cost on that + they are store brand and they are awesome. Its so much better than biscuits it taste like real pizza crust. Thanks for the comment. my kids love these.

Those look so good! I've seen mini pizzas on English muffins, or refrigerator biscuits, but I think they would taste so much better with dinner roll dough. I can't believe that never even occurred to me before! I'll have to give them a try.

Hi Tina. I love your little pizzas. Got to try them for my daughter and her friends. They're always hungry! The "burning" of the long greens is called roasting. It's when you roast them on a grill or griddle to char the skin and make it easy to remove. It's a little tedious a procedure, but the aroma the chiles give out is amazing. Hope you try the rellenos.

Hi Tina. Just wanted to let you know my little ones (ages 8 & 11) & I made your Pizza Sammies tonight. The youngest had basketball practice and I needed something easy & quick to fix for dinner after we got home. I put out little bowls of fixins and everyone fixed thier own, it was so much fun.The kids put pepperoni, sausage, cheese & sauce on thiers. I as usual piled mine with all that plus onions, peppers, etc. They were great and it is a keeper for sure, I know we will be making these often. You are awesome and all of us here really appreciate and luv ya for all you do for us. Thanks

I am so making these for dinner. I had to laugh when you said your son was a picky eater. My 14 year old is very picky but LOVES pizza. This will definately be a family night in the kitchen. Great idea for the frozen dinner rolls. here it is 2010 and I'm just now finding these great new recipes. I guess it's never too late to leave a positive comment. Amazing! I made a mini pizza bar for the grandkids they loved making their own pizzas. The crust was great, I used the Kroger brand as shown, and found the squeeze bottle of sauce. This recipe is perfect for just hubby and me when we want a pizza but not a huge one for 2 people that we tend to eat too much of. Another great MK recipe, a real keeper.

I live in Ireland and I have not seen the Pizza Squeeze Sauce, so I just empty tins of the Tomato puree into a squeeze bottle from Red Sauce and that does the trick.

There are some great ideas for kids here, keep up the good work.

My son insists on making these, every time he has friends over. I do not thaw the rolls beforehand (just place them directly into the preheated oven from the freezer).
