Say Cheese!!!! it's Cheese Biscuits

Thank goodness today was the last day of "Paula Deen Week". My Lord her recipes are to die for but, I don’t think my back end can handle too many more of her dishes. I am so addicted to the Food Network and as you all know Paula Deen is my favorite, I just love this gal!!!!!! Not only is she a great southern cook she is so straight forward and her sense of humor just cracks me up. Yesterday I made BBQ Brisket for dinner and I thought Paula’s Cheese Biscuits would be a perfect addition. Her Cheese Biscuit recipe has gotten rave reviews and it’s listed as one of Paula’s Top Ten Recipes at Paula Deen Online, which of course is one of my favorite recipe site. I know it's hard to believe right!!! I read that her Cheese Biscuits along with her Hoe Cakes are served at The Lady & Sons Restaurant as soon as you are seated. Well now that I have made them I can definitely see why she serves those little puppies.

They turned out so great. These biscuits were crispy on the outside and cotton soft on the inside with a wonderful buttery taste. Don’t take my word for it your just going to have to make them for yourself. I know a lot of people make a version of cheese biscuits with Bisquick, but I think Paula Deen’s recipe is so much better. It’s probably a lot easier using Bisquick, but nothing is better than homemade in my book. This recipe is definitely a keeper so I know I will be making them again.

Just because today is the last day of Paula Deen Week at Mommy’s Kitchen. Don’t be surprised when another one of Paula Deen’s recipes pop up. I just purchased “Paula Deen’s Chocolate Celebration” over the weekend and I have found several more recipes that are calling my name……. I have my handy helper Mackenzie ready to get started so let's get with it ya' ll.

In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together using a fork; cut in shortening until it resembles cornmeal.

Add cheese. Stir in buttermilk all at 1 time just until blended. Don't over mix that's the key when making biscuits. *If you dont have buttermilk you can substitute using 1 Tbsp lemon juice or vinegar plus enough milk to make 1 cup. Let stand 5 minutes before using*

Yummo I love biscuit dough. I know I am weird but i love sneaking some pieces out from the bowl and eating it. And with the cheese mixed in it's that much more temptimg.

Drop by tablespoonfuls, or use an ice cream scoop, onto a well greased baking sheet.

Brush dough with melted butter. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Great job Mackenzie I think she did everything by herself except measuring. I have a awesome helper.

LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY TURNED OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
