Tortilla Ham & Cheese Pinwheels {Potluck Sunday}

Good morning everyone!!! First off I want to apologize for being such a slacker lately. Not really the best way to kick off the new year is it? I usually try and add at least three posts per week, but lately I am lucky to get one or two recipes posted.

We just put our house up for sale, so it's been really busy around here. I'm sure it will be that way for quite some time, but I promise I wont be a bad blogger for too long. I just wanted to let y'all know that if you see some quite spells here at Mommy's Kitchen that's why.

Now onto a yummier note. Today I wanted to share a recipe for these tasty Tortilla Ham & Cheese Pinwheels pictured above. This is another appetizer that I made for New Years Eve. These little guys are perfect for parties, potlucks or any get together.

I especially love them because they are so versatile. You can fill them with all sorts of yummy ingredients. I chose to use ham and cheese for mine. But turkey, pastrami or even roast beef would be great. I used Swiss and cheddar cheese along with chopped black olives. If you don't like olives you can use chopped green chili's as well. I made a variety to please everyone.

Since my kiddos are not olive eaters I just made plain ham and cheese for them. But for everyone else I loaded them up!!! My favorite part is the creamy cream cheese and ranch filling. You can eat them plain or dip them in ranch dressing or picante sauce. These yummy little pinwheels would be the perfect addition if you are planning on having a big super bowl party.






Tortilla Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

Ingredients:
2 - packages (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 - packet (.04 oz) Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
6 - (12 inch) burrito size flour tortillas, room temperature
1 - package (12 ounces) thin deli sliced ham
10 - slices Swiss cheese
1 - cup shredded cheddar cheese or Colby jack
1 - 2.25 oz can chopped black olives

Directions:
Mix cream cheese and dry salad dressing together. Spread mixture on each tortilla. 

Drain the sliced olives and set aside.

Place two slices of ham on top of the cream cheese mixture. 

Add sliced Swiss cheese and sprinkle on shredded cheddar cheese and olives. 

Roll up tortillas tightly. Just like you would for cinnamon rolls and wrap in plastic wrap.

Chill at least 2 hours or overnight. Remove wrapping and cut rolls into 1 inch slices. Makes 3 - 4 dozen pinwheels

Good luck with the sell of your house....I'm sure you are goin to have your hands full for awhile now. Are you moving far away from the neighborhood you are in now?

Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe - I like adding chopped celery & carrots also. Hey Tina, everyone understands that sometimes life gets busy and the blogging has to take a back seat. Don't feel guilty! I love these pinwheels and their versatility. I typically shred a carrot and add a bit to the filling. So good!

Hi Tina, This is my first time posting. I had to let you know these Pin Wheel appetizers were great.
I've been trying to get my two picky eaters to eat better so when I can disguise the food and make it fun it's always a plus!
I followed your recipe but added a can of refried beans (my two HATE beans of any find)to the cream cheese mixture. LOL!! They never knew and even wanted to lick the bowl clean. It made more filling than I could use so we used the left overs for dip with crackers. A winner!!

That is a awesome idea by adding beans. My kids don't really eat beans either. Well my daughter does but my little guy I have to hide them just like you do. It works everytime.
