Top 15 Recipes of 2018 - Our Year in Review!

Hello 2019 and Goodbye 2018! It's been an amazingly, delicious year for Mommy's Kitchen and now it's time to take a look back at your favorite and most popular recipes for 2018! From looking at this list, I can see that everyone loves good old comfort food as much as I do. 

The recipes below are the ones that had the most traffic and page views by you my readers. I have to say it's always so much fun looking back at all of your favorite posts. I hope you'll  stick around and see what 2019 has in store for us. Happy New Year and thank you for making 2018 such a wonderful year!

#15 Minny's Chocolate Pie:  Minny's famous chocolate pie minus the terrible awful from the book and movie The Help! This recipe is the actual one used for the chocolate pies made in the film. Newspaper Columnist Lee Ann Flemming, one of the best bakers in Greenwood Mississippi, made 53 of these chocolate pies for the filming of the movie. The original recipe appeared on the Food & Wine website back in 2011 and her fudgy version of this pie is a classic. 

#14 Green Tomato Relish: A sweet tangy green tomato relish aka as chow chow that uses up those end of the crop green tomatoes. This recipe is from the queen of southern cooking, Edna Lewis's cookbook "The Gift of Southern Cooking". 

#13 Strawberry Cream Cake:  This strawberry cake starts with a baked french vanilla cake, infused with strawberry gelatin, topped with a creamy filling and finished off with a fresh strawberry glaze.

#12 Old Fashioned Cheesy Chicken: Spaghetti: A creamy, dreamy, cheesy chicken spaghetti casserole your whole family will love. 

#11 Copy Kat Stouffers Chicken & Rice: A classic copycat family favorite casserole of chicken, rice, and veggies cooked in a creamy sauce with a crispy Panko topping!

#10 MaMaw's Mexican Casserole aka Dorito Beef CasseroleLayers of ground beef, Doritos chips, chili beans, Rotel tomatoes and cheese make up this ooey-gooey casserole. 
#9  Not My Mama's Meatloaf:  A simple meatloaf recipe that uses dried cornbread dressing in place of bread crumbs. 

#8 American Goulash:  A Classic American Goulash with Beef, tomatoes, macaroni and spices simmered together all in one pot! Goulash is one of my favorite old fashioned meals.

#7 Olivia Walton's Applesauce Cake: This cake is the one Olivia Walton made in the movie "The Homecoming", which was the basis for the TV series "The Walton's" and mentioned in several of the television episodes as John-Boys favorite cake. 

#6  Tater Tot Casserole: Tater Tot Casserole is a classic comfort food dish made with ground beef, a creamy beef gravy, tater tots, and topped with cheese. 

#5 Strawberry Ice Cream Cake:  Strawberry fruit filling gives this easy ice cream cake it's beautiful coloring and strawberry flavor.

I love your menus. I make several of them. My husband just recently retired, so I shared your emails that I get for him to look over your menus as he is starting to learn to cook and he can't wait to try a lot of these. I have lots of cookbooks, but he likes to see what it will look like and yours are perfect. Thanks.
