Sierra Mist Pound Cake {Game Time Dessert}

This simple pound cake is soft, tender, and full of lemon-lime flavor. Leave plain or top with a simple vanilla glaze.
It's football season which means fun, football, friends, family, and of course FOOD! In our house football is for the guys, but I still love hanging out with our friends and family and cooking for everyone. The big game is just around the corner. Are you game day ready?

When it comes to tailgating and football food I try to keep it as simple as possible. Our usual game day menu consists of a variety of appetizers, chips, dips, nachos, wings, finger foods, sliders, burgers, and hot dogs. Walmart has always been my one stop shop for all my game time needs.

I love that I can find everything I need for any holiday or occasion in one store. Walmart has everything I need whether I'm making something from scratch or I need to pick up a ready made item from their deli or bakery. It all just depends on how much time I have.

This year Pepsico is participating in Game Time with a variety of chips and soda products. While these are simple and ready to eat items on their own, Pepsico and Walmart are sharing a variety of easy recipes you can make to take your game time menu over the top.

I was asked to recreate one of their game time recipes and share it with you. They had so many recipes to choose from, but I settled on this Sierra Mist Pound Cake. Every party needs dessert and the simpler the better for me.

I love recipes where soda is involved and this old fashioned pound cake is one of my favorites. Bake this pound cake a day before, so you can concentrate on the rest of the menu on game day. Lets get started on this easy cake.

These are the ingredients you will need (all available at Walmart): Butter, sugar, eggs, fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, sierra mist lemon lime soda, all purpose flour or cake flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking powder, and confectioners sugar (powdered sugar).

This recipe is simple to put together (full recipe is at the end of this post). Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 10 inch bundt or tube pan. Cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy, add the eggs one at a time incorporating each one. Add the lemon and lime juice and mix to combine.

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl. Add the flour to the creamed mixture (1 cup at a time)
alternately with the sierra mist soda (starting & ending with flour).

Transfer batter to prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 65-75 minutes or until golden brown and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before removing cake to a baking rack to cool completely.  While the cake is cooling prepare the glaze.

Drizzle half of the glaze over the cake and wait 30 minutes. Pour the remaining glaze over cake and cool completely until the glaze sets. I hope you'll give this recipe a try.

    It's been awhile since my bundt pan has gotten any use, so think it's time for me to dig it out and make this wonderful looking cake.
    Thank you
