Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

This Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball is a creamy treat filled with mini chocolate chips and perfect for dipping! Leave plain, roll in graham cracker crumbs, pecans or additional chocolate chips.
I want to make some yummy fun treats for Family Game Night. I really wanted something new and different. I remembered a recipe for a Chocolate Chip Cheese ball that I have been dying to try. I found this recipe in the cookbook that I am currently reading, The Red Hat Society Cookbook.

I'm loving this cookbook so many great home cooked dishes and southern recipes, which just so happens to be my favorite. My husband bought me this cookbook from Borders and surprised me.

I couldn't believe the price he paid $8 from the bargain table what a steal. He said he wasn't sure what kind of cookbook it was it just looked good. I told him The Red Hat Society is a awesome group of woman and I had been wanting one of their cookbooks for my collection, so I think he did pretty good.

Their recipe for the chocolate chip cheese ball sounded really interesting, something I thought my kiddos would like especially since you can spread it on graham crackers or vanilla wafers.

I tossed the recipe together and my daughter said that looks weird. I told her it had to sit a bit in the fridge and we could have it later that night when we played bowling on the Wii. Well, when I took the cheese ball out of the refrigerator to plate it up for photos who do you think was right behind me? Mackenzie of course, and by the looks of the photo above you can see she couldn't wait to try it.

I told her let me get a few pics and then you can dig it. Mackenzie said that she loves this dip and wants me to make it again. She said she likes the creamy sweet cheese mixture the best and not so much the chocolate chips. Now my oldest is the opposite he likes the chocolate chips best and told me that's the best part. Either way the kids loved it.

We served our cheese ball with graham cracker squares and animal crackers.

I love to make this! If you have any leftover, it also works great as a "frosting" for brownies!

I make this every year for Christmas. BUT I heat up hot fudge and pour over it just prior to serving. Yummy to the Tummy! I have also used it several times for neighbor gifts. I include the cheeseball, a box of Gingersnaps and a jar of hot fudge. Now who wouldn't want to receive THAT?!

A friend made this recently for a dessert tasting we had and we all decided that the best thing to dip in it is pretzel sticks! So good! Also, it was even better the 2nd and 3rd days.

This is a wonderful recipe! We actually leave out the extra sugar and serve it with a salty cracker, like Triscuit! The salty & sweet together will have even your adult foodie-friends addicted!
