The way I would get around it for this, for example, is to buy a bag every month or every shopping trip or whatever for a different recipe each time. But instead of using the whole bag for the recipe, toss it into its own canister until I have all of them in there together and ready for this recipe. <br /><br />I actually do this with beans, too, so after a few months, I'll have a ton of mixed beans for a mixed bean soup. Or the leftovers from cracker packages, so we'll have a night of various dips or hors d'œuvre. Or sometimes even with various shaped pastas (so long as they have roughly the same cook time), so that we have a funky pasta dish at some point. It stretches the food a little bit ('cause really, are you going to miss that 1/3 or 1/2 cup each time usually?) and ends up with funky, cool stuff like these cookies.
