The Frigidaire Gallery Range Symmetry Double Oven {Chicken Nugget Feature}

Well everyone my new Frigidaire Gallery Range with Double Ovens has arrived and I couldn't be more tickled. Isn't she a beautiful? I still can't believe that I have a new double oven gracing my kitchen. This is something I have only ever dreamed of owning, so it's hard to believe it's actually a reality.

It's been about 3 weeks since she arrived, so I thought it was time to do my first test drive report. Believe when I tell you I'm still figuring everything out and everyday certainly is an adventure. There are new things I find out sometimes purely by accident that just put a smile : ) on my face.

Lets start with some of the Signature Features of the Frigidaire Symmetry Double Oven.

  • Fits-More™ Cook Top: With five elements including two Space Wise® Expandable elements and a Warming Zone so you can cook more at once.

  • Symmetry Double Ovens: Two large ovens, each big enough to cook a 28-pound turkey, provide the flexibility to cook multiple dishes at the same time at different temperatures.

  • Precision Set™ Controls: Adjust heat levels more precisely, providing exceptional temperature control. (I was excited that the controls were digital)

  • Quick Preheat: Preheat in just four minutes. (This is one of my favorite features)
  • Quick Boil: Boils Water Faster (Love this too)
  • True Convection: Multi-rack baking is faster and more even with True Convection

When the range arrived I was surprised at just how big each oven was. I assumed they would be smaller, but each oven is big enough to cook a 28lb turkey. It took a bit of getting used to when I wanted to cook in the oven because you have to start by choosing upper or lower ovens.

This range also has a "lock" feature that I love. Not only is it a safety feature, but I can also lock the door as I bake something (very cool). I was so excited the day my new Symmetry Double Oven arrived that I totally forgot to take something out for dinner.

That is so not like me, but honestly all I had on my mind was this new stove getting here. I told myself I guess it can just be a chicken tenders kind of night. (Don't you have those kinds of days?)

Later on for dinner I went to preheat the stove and was shocked to see that this range had a "Chicken Nuggets" setting. How cool is that! Unsure of what that was I went to my manual and it stated the following. The chicken nuggets setting was designed to give optimum cooking performance when cooking your favorite chicken nuggets.

In the lower oven, the chicken nuggets pad is preset for (Convection Bake) 400 F. With a bake time of 18 minutes, ending with an automatic keep warm setting. If needed a different target temperature or bake time can be preset or adjusted.

I popped the chicken tenders in the oven without preheating

and adjusted the oven for the chicken nuggets setting and pressed start. I was like a kid in a candy store just waiting for the results.

And 18 minutes later I had perfectly golden chicken tenders that were cooked though. This has got to be the coolest feature. I didn't stop at at chicken nuggets.

The next day I used the Symmetry Double Oven and had homemade yeast rolls rising in the upper oven and a pizza cooking in the lower one. Yes folks life is good in the Butler house and I cannot wait to get started on our Thanksgiving meal.

Speaking of Thanksgiving don't forget to visit Make Time for a Change where Jenifer Garner shares her top tips for turkey time. Check them out and Frigidaire will donate $1 and a turkey to Save the Children to help a family in need. Plus, you'll be entered for a chance to win the new range.

I am participating in a Test Drive Campaign through Frigidaire. I received a Frigidaire Gallery Range with Symmetry Double Ovens to keep and to facilitate me in my review. Opinions stated above are entirely my own. I would like to thank Food buzz and Frigidaire for choosing Mommy's Kitchen.

I'm swooning over here. She's a beauty! I would want to bake in your oven if I came over! Hooray for Frigidaire!
I'm green with envy! I can't believe how many features that thing has! I was sold with the quick preheat, but a quick boil, too?! My two least favorite things about cooking are waiting for the oven to preheat and waiting for my water to boil! I am definitely adding this to my "someday" wish list! I can't wait to hear more about it and all of it's features!
Oh my goodness Tina, I would be ecstatic!!! Congratulations :)

Tina, I am so jealous... quick question, I'm sure you will know the answer. I had always heard you could not "can" on a smooth stove top surface because it gets too hot. Is this true?
Thanks!
Jodi
WOW! Congratulations. Some day...sigh.
Oh Girl! You are spoiled for sure!! =) You are in for a ton of fun...hopefully you can get things figured out before the holidays roll in. WOW! I'm excited for you. I just got a new SmartPhone and can totally relate to having to learn NEW stuff. You're gonna enjoy this lovely new 'toy' to the max, I'm sure of it. Thanks for sharing.

Jodi I was unaware of that. I did a google search and came up with this link:

http://www.pickyourown.org/cannings4glasstop.htm

I think it has to do with the temperature flucuating. I don't use a canner, but a flat bottomed pot to can in a water bath. Now I am not sure if I should or should not attempt canning this year. I think I will contact frigidaire and find out. Thank you for bringing this issue up.
How lovely! Two ovens! Now I'm drooling over your ovens! Congratulations!

Congratulations! I love Frigidaire appliances. We have a Frigidaire Refrigerator and a Washer and Dryer set from them too. Love them! I love that they have these new types of free standing double ovens! much more reasonable than the wall mounts! I love that it is stainless steal too. Enjoy your new oven! :)

Crafts by Jodi, I just heard back from Frigidaire and this is what I was told.

Canning can be on a smoothtop. We recommend that the canner not extend more than 1 inch beyond the element, that the total weight of the canner and contents not be more than 50 pounds, and that you allow the element to cool between batches.

I hope this helps.

I love everything you said about this unit--except for the smooth stove top. I have heard many people complain about being afraid they will scratch it and special cleaning instructions. Checked on Frigidaire site to see if this was available with regular elements. They have a similar one, but the two ovens are smaller:( I will just wait and see what you have to say about your experience with the smooth cook top. Would love to have the double oven and your unit looks great. Congrats!

So far I haven't had any problems with the smooth top surface. This is actually my second stove with a glass/smooth top. I love that things can no longer run everwhere when it boils over. I hated clenaing all that up with the burner type ranges. I use soft scrub to clean my smooth tops range. Other than that I haven't run into any problems over the last 3 years.

Tina,
You will love your double oven come the holidays. I have had one for 4 yrs now and love love love it! It is seriously the best thing in my kitchen (and I have a Kitchenaid stand mixer so that is saying a lot!)
Also, never had any problems with the smooth top. Just use the cleaner and your done!
Happy cooking!
