Happy Friday everyone! I am so excited to be hosting my first Giveaway! You read the title, It's a Cooks Ham Giveaway!!!!! No, I won't be giving away an actual Cook's Ham, but just as nice.... I will be giving away a $15 Coupon good towards the purchase of one of Cook's wonderful hams.

We love Cooks Ham and at my house we eat the bone in hams year round. Of course our favorite is the glazed spiral hams but those are saved for the special holidays such as Christmas, New Years or Easter. What would a holiday be without a beautiful Cooks Ham at your table.

All you have to do to enter for you chance to win the $15 off coupon is make a comment on this post with one of your favorite ham recipes or tips. It doesn't have to be anything fancy just a favorite recipe that utilizes ham. Yummy, I love a good ham n cheese ball. My favorite way to prepare a ham is line the top with whole cloves, pack on an inch deep of brown sugar, top with pineapple rings and cherries. The runoff into the baking pan full of water makes a delicious syrup to use for the left over ham you cut into chunks, and mix with the syrup for ham n beans with cornbread.

My husband loves Zu-Zu's (or as we non Italians call it...gingersnaps) so when I make a ham I like to cater to him. I make a glaze of honey and orange juice. Coat the ham generously all over. then using crushed gingersnaps I press them onto the ham to coat it. Bake as normal in a 350* oven and yummy!!! This is such a great tasting way to enjoy ham for us.

Hi - Love contests, love Ham!! We tend to bake a large one and leave in fridge for sandwiches - after the main meal of course! Also love to chop and shred a few cups and mix in and bake in scalloped potatoes. Love your blog - Thank you!!

We usually eat sandwiches with the leftover ham until it gets down near the bone, then cook it with white beans until it falls off the bone. Nothing like ham and beans with cornbread.

My great uncle who was a butcher taught us to bake a ham with a mustard/brown sugar glaze. He just slathered the mustard all over the outside of the ham and pressed brown sugar into it. Kind of messy but it tastes really good!

One of my favorite ways to use leftover ham is in a hashbrown casserole! Easy, cheap, and the whole family will eat it without complaint. It consists of frozen hashbrowns, cream soup (your choice), sour cream, diced ham, and shredded cheese. Bake it in the oven. It's great for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.

ham is one of my familys favorite meats!! My best tip is to use the leftover hambone - with a good amount of meat attached - to make split pea soup -it is nutricious and easy. You can find a perfect recipe on the bag of split peas ENJOY!!!

I was going to say ham with a brown sugar/mustard glaze.

Or a ham/cheese ball with cream cheese, diced ham, a little garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce.

I am always up for a giveaway! This really isn't a recipe but my teenagers love them and they are super easy. I just take a flour tortilla and place a couple slices of swiss cheese and zap it for about 15 seconds. Then I lay sliced or chopped ham over the cheese and add some Ranch dressing - roll it up and slice it in bite sizes. Easy, Easy! Thanks for all your tips and recipies,Sherry Synerss2656@yahoo.com

I made this cornbread-topped ham loaf once and my husband calls it the best thing he's ever eaten. You basically grind the ham in the food processor, top it with apricot jam and salsa, and then pour cornbread batter on top and bake it. We thought it was a really unique way to use ham! Here's the recipe:

Yummy! That ham & cheese ball sounds SOOO yummy! Our favorite way to cook a ham is to score it diagonally all over, spread mustard all over it, pat brown sugar over the entire ham, and then spritz with bourbon. I cook it in the crockpot. I just spritz every hour or so. It is SOOO Good!

I have never been real successful cooking a ham but we always do wonders with the left overs.
my husbands favorite is a lunch snack once he is tired of the ham sandwiches. we dice up the ham, add some onion, shreaded colby jack and a heaping spoon of mayo. mix it up and season to taste. Put it in a flat out (tortilla) and you ahve something different with left overs.

Nothing fancy here, but my daughter could eat this every day of her life.
QIUCK COOK MAC & CHEESE w/ HAM
3 c. cooked macaroni (about 1 1/2c. uncooked)
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 1/2 c. shredded cheese
1 c. ham, chopped or cubed
After cooking macaroni, drain and rinse with cool water and return to pan. Add evaporated milk and cheese. Cook and stir gently until cheese melts.
for a thinner sauce, add a little more milk. Add in ham.
You can use any kind or combination of cheese. Makes 6 servings (about 2/3 c. each) I usually double it for my family of 6. :)
Not only is this a favorite because my kids LOVE it, it is sooo easy and frugal. Love your blog!

Tina, that cheeseball looks so good, I already checked to see if I have the stuff to make it!! I always made ham with the traditonal glaze that has pineapple in it and one day I realized I had no pineapple so I substituted a can of peach slices and I poured it all over the ham and it turned out so good that is all my family wants now! Weird!
Great post!

Hello, This is karenmell from everydaychix.

SCRUMCHIOUS HOLIDAY HAM

I prepare my ham by piercing it with whole cloves randomly scattered all over (about 20 of them) then drizzle the ham with 2 Tbsp or more of honey, pour 8-12 oz gingerale in the bottom of the pan and cover with foil so it steams as it cooks.

I ususally serve it with pineapple souffle (if you arent familiar with it I can get you that recipe, its really a big hit here in Pennsylvania) but if I dont ahve the pineaplle souffle,I just put some pineapple rings in with the ham for the alst 10-15 minutes to warm them up and then use them to garnish the ham on the serving platter.

Happy Holidays Tina, I love your site and the family ahs been thrilled with all the recipes I've tried so far. Karen
Great appetizer recipe and links Tina. The Cheese Ball recipe certainly will come in handy with the holiday gatherings. Thanks neighbor.

Coca Cola and Brown Sugar is one of the best glazes I have come across for ham. We always chop the leftovers and put into freezer bags for quick dinner recipes. Love your site! I'm a Mesquite Mom too!

ham is so good. ham can be added to everything. i like taking leftover ham and make a potato and ham soup, or add them in eggs for breakfast. my family make breakfast casserole with ham. just mix up some eggs, milk, cheese, ham, and some broken up piece of bread. put in in a pan and refrigerate it overnight. cook it the next morning at 350 or so for about 40 min. so yummy. you can never go wrong with ham.
What a wonderful site. My Mother always fixes ham at the holiday's. I just love all of the recipes. Thank You so much!

One of my favorites is creamed peas, new potatoes and cubed ham. Total comfort food and a complete meal to boot.

Make a basic white sauce add peas potatoes, ham and salt and pepper and maybe a sprinkle of cheese.

Hi there... one of the many tips that my grandma has taught me about cooking is to soak your ham in water for a few hours before cooking it will take out the saltiness.. i do this because of the high blood pressure that runs in my family. hope this helps.

For Christmas this year...I baked a spiral sliced ham in the crock pot...put 1/2 cup brown sugar in the bottom of the crock...put ham in fat side down..work the rest of the brown sugar in between the slices and then squirt some mustard over it...Bake on low 2 hours...then turn it over and bake another 2 hours...it was WONDERFUL!!
